Handler and Dog Certifications
Step 1
Evaluation
All of our dogs undergo an evaluation which presents them with varying degrees of obstacles that they may encounter in their everyday interaction with Simply Pawsitive. Our seasoned evaluators watch for temperament, training as well as overall enthusiasm to ensure that they will be well suited for the position.

Step 2
Designation
Upon successful completion of the certification process, each dog is required to attend a visit with a seasoned dog and handler to learn the ropes. Any long laps in visiting as defined by Simply Pawsitive will re-trigger this process to ensure the dogs are ready for visiting.
Step 3
Records Checks
Handlers

Complete various seminars and training relevant to the visiting they do. Handlers are also required to complete Vulnerable Sector Criminal Background Checks prior and periodically throughout their employment.

Dogs
​
Vaccines required for the dogs are Rabies and DAPP (Canine Distemper Virus, Canine Adenovirus types 1 & 2, Canine Parainfluenza Virus, & Canine Parvovirus)
They are also closely monitored and are caped at 3 hours of visiting weekly.
